The organization
A law firm operating across multiple offices, where lawyers and staff move between locations and client work depends on fast access to case files.
Secure Access · Case study
At a multi-office law firm, which case files you could reach depended on which office you were in. FioSec implemented SASE so lawyers get the same secure access to their files at every location, with the firm’s security policy following them wherever they work.
A law firm operating across multiple offices, where lawyers and staff move between locations and client work depends on fast access to case files.
Which case files a lawyer could reach depended on which office they were sitting in. Systems and files were anchored to specific locations, so working from another office meant workarounds, waiting, or asking someone locally to pull documents. For a firm whose product is time and whose files are privileged, the friction and the workarounds were both a problem. The firm engaged FioSec to make location irrelevant.
Each step maps to a layer of the Layered Defence model: vendor-agnostic by design, described by the control it delivers rather than any one product.
Design around how lawyers work
We mapped how staff actually moved between offices and what they needed to reach, then designed a Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) deployment to fit the firm’s workflow, rather than forcing the workflow to fit the network.
Cloud-delivered access
Instead of routing everyone back through one office’s network, users connect to a nearby cloud point of presence that applies the firm’s security policy and connects them to their files and systems from any location.
Access by identity, not location
Access to case files now follows the person: lawyers and staff authenticate and reach the matters they are entitled to, whichever office they sign in from.
One security policy everywhere
The same protections, filtering, and access rules apply at every office and are managed centrally, so security no longer varies by location.
Lawyers and staff have the same access to case files at every office; where someone works no longer decides what they can reach.
Confidential client files stay protected by the same identity-based controls and security policy wherever they are accessed from.
The firm manages one consistent security posture across all offices instead of a patchwork per location.
