Wi-Fi that follows the sale onto the lot

Sales staff at an automotive dealership lost connectivity the moment they stepped outside with a customer. FioSec designed and deployed weatherproof outdoor wireless with seamless roaming, so vehicle listings and pricing stay live in staff hands from the showroom to the back row of the lot.

The situation

The organization

An automotive dealership with a large outdoor lot, where the real selling happens: staff walking rows of inventory with customers, tablets and phones in hand.

What prompted it

Inside the showroom, sales staff had everything at their fingertips: vehicle listings, pricing, availability, trade-in details. The moment they stepped outside with a customer, the connection died. The lot was simply too big for the indoor wireless to reach, so staff were walking customers back inside to answer basic questions, juggling personal hotspots, or losing the momentum of a sale while a page refused to load. The dealership brought in FioSec to make the network go where the selling actually happens.

What FioSec did

Each step maps to a layer of the Layered Defence model: vendor-agnostic by design, described by the control it delivers rather than any one product.

  1. Survey before hardware

We started with a wireless survey of the lot, mapping coverage, dead zones, and interference across the full property, so access-point placement was driven by measurement rather than guesswork.

  2. Built for the outdoors

Weatherproof, outdoor-rated access points were installed across the lot: hardware designed to run year-round through rain, snow, and summer heat, not indoor units pressed into outdoor duty.

  3. One network, inside and out

The outdoor coverage was configured as a seamless extension of the dealership’s existing wireless. Devices roam between indoor and outdoor access points automatically, without dropping sessions, so a listings page opened at a desk is still open at the far corner of the lot.

  4. Managed as one estate

The new access points are managed alongside the existing network rather than as a parallel system, keeping the configuration consistent and the wireless secured to the same standard inside and out.

The outcome

Sales staff now walk the lot with customers with live listings, pricing, and availability in hand, and can share details on the spot instead of heading back inside.

Devices move from the showroom to the lot without losing access, so the conversation, and the sale, keeps moving.

The dealership’s wireless is now one managed, consistent network across the whole property instead of an indoor network with a coverage cliff at the door.
